Ball or Fall!

When it comes to sports, there are some parents that do not support their kids.  You have some that only show up to games, hoping that their kids just do their best.  Then their are parents like Lavar Ball: the ones that feel as if sometimes your best is not good enough, In the words of Kanye West, they must “do better” (2 Chainz – “Birthday Song” Ft. Kanye West)!  Lavar is not only going to preach his philosophies to his kids, he is going to make them public.  Ironically, Ball does not compare his kids to the greats, he states that they will be better.

Lavar Ball believes that what makes his sons better than anyone is that they have a father in their life.  His oldest son, Lonzo, is a star freshman, a possibly a one and done, at UCLA.  LiAngelo and Lamelo, his middle and youngest son, both plays for Chino Hills High School and are UCLA commits.

LaMelo is honestly the most intriguing of the three.  It is hard to turn on your computer or pick up your smartphone without seeing him shoot from anywhere in the gym.  Oh and by the way, he scored a controversial 92 point in a game earlier this year.

You cannot fault a father wanting to be there for his kids and to cheer them on, but you can argue that it may go too far.  It can create unwanted pressure for the kid.  Let Lavar tell it, he has raised (prepared) his son’s for this.

“The pressure will only make them stronger,” Lavar says.

It is even to the point that Lavar is all over the TV himself.  He can be seen doing interviews with local news and mega media outlets like ESPN.

Critics have stated that he is hurting the kids NBA future with his braggadocios rants.  For example, teams will have to weigh whether they would want to deal with Lavar’s public criticisms when something does not go his way. You can even ponder if he will act as their agent when comes to contract negotiations.

From challenging Charles Barkley to a one on one to stating that he could of beat Michael Jordan in his prime, Lavar is rubbing some people the wrong way.
