Hurricane Chris Talks Being Blackballed, Going Indie

If your pick up line was “A Bay Bay” around late-’00s, Hurricane Chris could be accredited. The song of the same title peaked at number 7 on Billboard Hot 100, which put him on Hip Hop national map. That’s not bad for a youngster that needed his mother to sign off on his first contract due to age restrictions.

After given us a couple of more party jams such as “Make It Clap” and “Halle Berry (She Fine),” the Shreveport Louisiana native faded from the national Hip Hop scene. Recently, Chris sat down with RealLyfe Productions to bring us up to speed. During the conversation, he talks about how he was threaten to be blackballed by his former label, Polo Grounds Music.

According to Chris, the ultimatum came after he expressed his frustration with the label for not releasing his album during another interview. It didn’t sit too well with the label’s CEO, Bryan Leach.

“If you keep on, I’ll make sure ain’t on BET next year,” Chris was told.

Since, Chris has ditched his label and dropped King Kane in 2017 for his day 1’s. Now, he’s ready to give it another run–independently.
