(R&B) Which Jodeci Album Jams the Best?

In the early ’90s, Jodeci help set the bar for R&B male groups. Considering the groups that were out at the time such as New Edition, Guy, Hi-Five, and Today, to name a few, that was quite an achievement within itself. The Uptown Records signee were trailblazers in the image department as well. Baggy jeans, hat worn backwards, and tattoos, among other things, earned them the nickname, “Bad Boys of R&B.”

K-Ci, JoJo, Mr. Dalvin, and DeVante Swing dropped a gem with their 1992 debut, Forever My Lady. Hits such as “Come and Talk to Me,” “Stay,” and the album’s title track helped the album reach number 1 on the Top R&B Albums and 18 on the Billboard 200.

Diary of a Mad Band, Jodeci’s second release, proved they were not a one trick pony. It was promoted by “Cry for You,” “Feenin,” and “What About Us.” The former two reached number 1 and 2 on the Top R&B Albums, respectively, while the later reached number 15.

The group’s success continued with their 1995 release, The Show, the After Party, the Hotel. It nearly top the Billboard 200, stalling at number 2. However, it would topped the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It was promoted by hits “Freek’n,” “Love U 4 Life,” and “Get On Up.”

Jodeci are not in the forefront of the music scene the way they once were. However, it’s not their fault. Jodeci’s 2015’s release, The Past, The Present, The Future, is a great album, but it went unnoticed.

Jodeci has three critically-acclaimed albums, a long list of baby-making hits, and one of the best producers in the business that just so happen to be in the group–Davante Swing.
