‘The Eminem Show’ or ‘The Documentary’?

Game and Eminem seem to be at odds. Or maybe, it’s just Game being at odds with Eminem. The release of Game’s “The Black Slim Shady,” a diss aimed at Em, confirms it’s some kind of rift going on. Though the Compton rapper has admitted in a recent interview with Rap Radar Podcast that it’s just friendly competition, the good folk at HHAD would like to take it upon ourselves to settle the score by a The Eminem Show vs The Documentary debate.

Em’s album dropped first in 2002. Prior to it’s release, he’d gotten ridiculed for being a successful white rapper in a predominantly black culture. He let us know he wasn’t oblivious to the fact in “White America.”

“Let’s do the math,” Em raps. “If I was black, I would’ve sold half. I ain’t have to graduate from Lincoln High School to know that.”

“Cleaning Out My Closet” was a real powerful song. Unfortunately, he had to put his mother on blast, but face it, not all mother and son relationships are good. And speaking of relationships, Em wasn’t afraid to talk about his unstable courtship with ex-wife and daughter’s mother Kim Mathers either. Regarding honesty, you can put this album in the category of Marvin Gaye’s Here, My Dear.

The album’s promo singles were; “Without Me,” “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” “Superman,” “Sing for the Moment,” and “Business.”

Game’s album came few years laters. The Documentary, his debut, was one of the few non-South albums to demand mainstream’s attention at the time.

We thought the West had felt off. But according to Game, that wasn’t quite the case.

“All these motherf*ckers been patiently waiting,” Game spits in “Westside Story.”

“Since the West Coast fell off the streets been watching/The West Coast never fell off I was asleep in Compton/Aftermath been here the beats been knocking/Nate Dogg doing his thing DPG still poppin’/I got California love f**king b***hes to that Pac sh*t/And Westside Connection been had it locked b***h.”

The album’s promo singles were; “Westside Story,” “How We Do,” “Hate It or Love It,” “Higher,” “Dreams,” and “Put You on the Game.”

Here’s two albums that I put against each other because I personally enjoyed both. And if Em and Game need mediation, they can use our poll results as a reference.
