Which was the Better Soundtrack; ‘I’m Bout It’ or ‘Baller Blockin’?

I don’t know if we’ll ever see a No Limit vs Cash Money Verzuz. For the record, I pray we do. However, you can count on HHAD to debate No Limit and Cash Money albums in the mean time. With that being said, let’s talk two soundtracks, I’m Bout It and Baller Blockin’, by No Limit and Cash Money, respectively.

Between the two, I’m Bout It reached our CD player first. The movie may have lacked in quality, however the soundtrack picked up the slack.

Songs such as “If I Could Change” and “Meal Ticket” were considered bangers by the masses. The latter was considered a Southern classic due to 8Ball & MJG and UGK, two of the most respected duos from the South, being featured on the track.

Master P, No Limit’s head honcho and executive producer, didn’t deviate from his blueprint of making music, which was relying heavily on several No Limit soldiers and guest rappers to create one song. In addition, production being provided by Beats by the Pound, No Limit’s in house production team.

The soundtrack also gave us a nice slow jam too, with “Pushin’ Inside You” by Sons of Funk.

I’m Bout It did well on the charts, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard 200 chart, and topping the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

Baller Blockin‘ came two years later. Bryan “Baby” Williams, the de facto head of Cash Money, made sure his artists didn’t negate from their proven formula, which was nearly identical to their nemesis. In addition, production provided by Mannie Fresh, Cash Money in house producer.

Some memorable bangers were the title track and “Project Bitch.” The former featured E-40.

Baller Blockin’ provided us a slow jam as well, with “Don’t Cry” by UnplUgged.

CMR’s soundtrack did well on the chart also, reaching the number 13 and 2 spot on the Billboard 200 and the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Billboard, respectively.

Again, it is my prayer is to have No Limit and Cash Money to do a Verzuz. Perhaps, at the Ceasars Superdome with replicas of the Calliope and Magnolia projects as part of the stage production. Maybe in partnership with some kind of stop the violence nonprofit organization. That would be dope, wouldn’t it?
