Is Long Lasting Beef Bad for Hip Hop?

Should there be an expiration date on rap beef? There’s an expiration date on ground beef, why not rap beef? The question is inspired by a video surfaced online that shows 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” being played before Ja Rule was set to perform. Fif would respond in typical Fif fashion.

“LOL,” Fif wrote. “Now this is some funny shit! I wish I had something to do with it.”

It’s apparent there’s still some bad blood between the two rappers.

Like most of the Hip Hop world, I was zoned in when the two Queens, NY rappers had begun feuding back in 2003. Ja was on top of the world, but then here comes Fif ripping through Murder Inc like Hurricane Curtis. We do have to factor that The Inc. was fighting a fed case, which left them unable to fire back more freely. But nevertheless, it was entertaining. Fast-forward 20 years: they are still at it. I’m starting to question is this a good look for Hip Hop?

During an interview with VladTV, Fat Joe spoke on his past beefs, which he acknowledge it did not help him. In fact, he too, suggested there should be a time limit on beef.

“It should be a time limit on beefs,” Fat Joe says. “It gets boring after while.”

Gucci Mane and Jeezy have had a long lasting feud. However, they were able to signed a peace treaty during the Verzuz over a year ago, and was able to put it behind them.

Why can’t Fif and Ja do that?
