(R&B) Dru Hill’s ‘Dru Hill (Self-Titled)’; Classic!, Jammin’, Regular, or Not Impressed?

The 90s was the decade for quartets. One foursome that put their stamp on 90’s R&B was Dru Hill. I would like to discuss Dru Hill, their self-title debut.

They released their debut album in November 19, 1996. Their sound was somewhat familiar to Jodeci. However, they would quickly separate themselves from the guys from North Carolina with a string of hits.

The album featured four singles “Tell Me,” “In My Bed,” “Never Make A Promise,” and “5 Steps.”

Dru Hill peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart. It was certified platinum in sales by the RIAA.

Many say the guys were the second coming of Jodeci. I don’t know if that’s true or not. However, their influence was apparent. And of course, that’s not a bad group to mimic.
