Q from HHAD had the pleasure of connecting with David “Pic” Conley from the R&B group Surface. During the first clip, Pic tells how Surface started out with a female lead singer named Karen Copeland. One of the their first hits was “Falling In Love.” However, after different opinions, they parted ways.
Still in search of a female replacement, the other member, David Townsend, met Bernard Jackson in the process. In the meantime, they had got a production deal and began writing and producing for other groups. However, a chain event would pivot the trio to becoming a group themselves.
