Lance Jumps Into The Rap Game

NBA: Indiana Pacers at Portland Trail Blazers

Sometimes the line between sports and music is thinner than one might expect. That’s certainly the case this week, as Lance Stephenson dropped his own freestyle over Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot N*gga” track. Stephenson has become a NBA celebrity over the years, and he pays homage to New York as well as giving props to his new teammates and Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan. Lance isn’t the first NBA player to try their hands at the game of music. Shaq, Iverson, and even Kobe have been in the booth before, with marginal results. But this is the first time that Stephenson has released a track, and it’s certainly been a fun listen hearing Stephenson talk about dribble moves and Kemba Walker.

Stephenson signed a deal for $27 million this summer and he looks to be a major threat in Charlotte with Walker in the backcourt. It’s likely that Stephenson has a breakout year, and many expect the Hornets to be major players come playoff time. We’ll see if all of that comes to fruition, but for now it’s just fun to listen to the track. Stephenson ain’t that bad.
